In 1951, a group of dedicated Canadian fanciers created the “Honourable Company of Bullmastiff Fanciers of Canada”. Later that year the newly created club held its first Specialty show on September 15, 1951 in Dixie, Ontario. Champion Robin of the Rouge (pictured right) owned by Dorothea Daniell-Jenkins, won Best of Breed over 25 other bullmastiffs, with Ch Binagain of Bullmas taking Best of Opposite Sex. Later that same day Robin was awarded Group 1st and ultimately Best in Show… making him the first Specialty Winner in Canada and the first bullmastiff to be awarded Best in Show Winner in both Canada and the United States. What a debut for this young promising club!
Fifty years later, the Bullmastiff Fanciers of Canada is a very dynamic club, with events planned throughout the whole year which include many Regional and Nationals Boosters, two Regional and one National Specialty shows, as well as CGS tests.
